Erin McGregor’s Tips for Easier Family Travel

Erin McGregor, a businesswoman and social media star, has shared her valuable tips for traveling on holiday with her family. As a mother of a child with autism, Erin has discovered certain techniques that make the trips more manageable for her son. She also reflects on her own experiences, including her first family vacation and luxurious destinations she has visited.

Traveling with a Child with Autism

Erin emphasizes the importance of being prepared when traveling with her son Harry, who has autism. She brings a freezer pack on the plane to ensure Harry has familiar food and drinks. Additionally, they use ear defenders to reduce noise exposure at the airport, and Harry wears a sunflower lanyard, signaling that he has a hidden disability. Dublin Airport even offers a sensory room to ease the waiting period before flights.

Unforgettable Destinations

Erin has been fortunate to visit many wonderful locations. One standout trip was to St Tropez, where she celebrated her son’s and niece’s/nephew’s birthdays at the luxurious Château de la Messardière hotel. Erin was enamored by the stunning grounds and the wide range of activities available for children. She also recommends the Regency Hotel in Rome, which left her in awe.

Memories of First Family Holiday

Erin fondly recalls her first family holiday as a child, which took place in Torremolinos, Spain. She stayed at the Sol Timor Apartments and was amazed by the experience, especially the mini cans of Coca Cola or 7Up that were a special treat for her.

Dream Destination

While Erin would love to visit The Bahamas someday, she acknowledges that it may not be suitable for her family due to Harry’s dislike of sand and water. Instead, she enjoys city breaks, mentioning her love for London, Rome, and Paris. Erin finds Rome particularly powerful, and although not religious, she feels the energy of prayer while there.

Challenges and Disasters

Like any traveler, Erin has faced her fair share of challenges and holiday mishaps. One memorable incident involved missing a flight home from Boston, resulting in a detour through Amsterdam. Despite these setbacks, Erin maintains a positive outlook on her adventures.
