Regina Hall and Property Brothers Team Up for a Life-Changing Home Renovation
Regina Hall expresses her deep gratitude for her friend Vonda, who has been an important source of support for the past 15 years. To show her appreciation, the Scary Movie star partners with design duo Drew and Jonathan Scott to give Vonda’s home a transformative renovation.
A Longstanding Friendship
Hall and Vonda first became acquainted on the set of Real Husbands of Hollywood, where Vonda worked as the head of the makeup department. Since then, their bond has remained strong, regardless of whether they worked together or not.
“I think it’s special when you know someone well and things are going on in your life that you can talk to someone and you know that it’s gonna be private,” Hall shares. “I have that with Vonda. Vonda has that with me.”
A Deserving Recipient
Vonda, a single mother with two children living in Carson, California, has faced numerous challenges. Her daughter battled sickle cell anemia, and Vonda selflessly became a bone marrow match to provide a life-saving transplant. Although her daughter is now free of the disease, she still has a compromised immune system. Vonda’s love for cooking and entertaining adds to her vibrant personality, making her the perfect candidate for a home renovation.
The Transformation Process
The collaborative team, known as The Demo Divas, focuses their efforts on the kitchen, dining area, living room, and entry over a six-week period. They begin by removing a wall between the kitchen and living room to create a more spacious and welcoming environment for hosting guests. The kitchen receives a major upgrade with a long peninsula, dolomite counters, and new cabinetry. The dining room features additional storage, while Vonda’s love for copper accents inspires a light and fresh color palette throughout the home. The entry is adorned with Terrazzo tile flooring, and the living room boasts a new fireplace highlighted by Venetian plaster.
Improving Quality of Life
In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, the team replaces Vonda’s HVAC system with a hospital-grade one equipped with multiple filters for superior effectiveness and efficiency. This ensures a healthier environment for Vonda’s family, particularly her daughter with a compromised immune system.
Vonda is overwhelmed with gratitude, expressing her heartfelt appreciation for the life-changing renovation. She can now create lasting memories with her loved ones in a space that brings her joy and peace of mind.
