Chief Technology Officer of Tether Addresses Rumors on Mining Bitcoin
Paolo Ardoino, the chief technology officer of Tether (USDT), recently spoke out in response to rumors circulating about images of large industrial containers online. These speculations led to questions about Tether’s Bitcoin (BTC) mining operations.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) published on Aug. 26, Ardoino clarified the curiosity sparked by a photo he shared on Aug. 24. The photo displayed a container with a photoshopped Tether Energy logo, leaving many people wondering about its significance.

According to Ardoino, the photo depicts a control room at a Bitcoin mining site that Tether is in the process of completing and will soon begin operations at.
However, Ardoino firmly stated that he will not disclose the location in response to numerous user inquiries. While he did mention that the site is in Latin America, he cited security concerns as the reason for not providing further details.
“Where? In LATAM. We tend to not share exact locations to avoid personnel harassment, a valid concern given the amount of detractors obsessed with Tether,” he declared, acknowledging the skepticism surrounding Tether’s legitimacy.
Ardoino also addressed doubts about the photoshopped logo on the containers, revealing that it was a deliberate media decision.
“We thought that the photo would have been shared in newspapers, so the team wanted to brand it,” Ardoino noted. However, he emphasized that displaying logos at mining sites would compromise physical privacy.
Operations at the site are expected to begin in September.
This development follows Tether’s efforts to develop mining software aimed at providing greater transparency in Bitcoin mining locations. In an interview with Cointelegraph on Aug. 17, Ardoino introduced Moria, a mining software designed to offer more comprehensive data analytics on energy production at Bitcoin mining sites.
Ardoino stressed the need for improved analytics and performance evaluation in Bitcoin mining, and he believes Moria will assist in assessing the site’s performance and the surrounding environment.
