BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol has reported a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a car on 1st Street. The incident resulted in the death of one person and the arrest of another.

The collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a 56-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida, was riding his motorcycle eastbound from a driveway located at 3216 1st Street towards US 41.

At the same time, a 41-year-old woman from Bradenton, Florida, was driving south in a sedan on the left lane of US 41, approaching the driveway.

Upon reaching the intersection, at 4:38 PM, the motorcyclist made a right turn from the driveway onto US 41, crossing the path of the oncoming sedan.

While it is unclear whether the motorcyclist made an unsafe maneuver or if the sedan driver was distracted or speeding, the collision resulted in the sedan striking the rear of the motorcycle.

The impact was so powerful that it ejected the 56-year-old motorcyclist onto the left lane of southbound US 41. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the sedan, a 41-year-old woman from Bradenton, was found to be driving without a license and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Manatee County jail.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
