A Fusion of Flavors from Chef Mina’s Egyptian Roots

Chef Michael Mina, renowned James Beard award-winning chef and restaurateur, has unveiled his latest culinary venture, Orla, located inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Orla is the result of Chef Mina’s exploration of his Egyptian heritage, incorporating a unique blend of cuisines inspired by his childhood in Cairo. The menu showcases a beautiful fusion of flavors from the Mediterranean to the Middle East, featuring wood charcoal-grilled meats, fish, and pasta.

“Orla is a culmination of my culinary evolution, a fusion of personal recipes that echo the flavors and aromas of my childhood in Egypt. It encapsulates the warmth, charm, and vibrant hospitality of Mediterranean culture that has shaped my life and career,” said Chef Mina. “I can’t wait for guests to experience a taste of what has influenced my life’s work.”

A Culinary Mastermind with a Stellar Career

Chef Mina’s culinary empire, MINA Group, manages over 30 restaurants and is renowned for its innovative and exceptional dining concepts. His culinary prowess has earned him the opportunity to serve as a guest chef at the James Beard House and prepare meals for three U.S. presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

Orla is Chef Mina’s latest chef-driven dining concept, offering guests an unparalleled experience showcasing the finest food, wine, spirits, and impeccable service.

Indulge in Mediterranean-Inspired Shared Plates

Orla’s menu focuses on shared plates with a Greek-centric flair, providing an interactive dining experience with offerings such as pickle and bread service. The menu boasts a wide array of options, including hot and cold mezze plates, grains and pasta dishes, and a variety of fresh seafood delights sourced from the fish market.

Seafood specialties at Orla include grilled orange swordfish, za’atar cured wild king salmon with lemon tzatziki, salt-baked sea bream, charcoal grilled octopus, and oven-roasted red snapper. Middle Eastern favorites feature a kebab platter showcasing chicken ‘oyster’ kofta skewers, tangerine labneh, and smoked eggplant dip. Additional options include succulent lamb shank and spice-roasted Rohan duck.

For a sweet finale, guests can indulge in a Greek frozen yogurt sundae cart that rolls directly to their table. This delectable treat incorporates 24K golden thyme honey, toasted pistachios, and generous servings of labneh frozen yogurt.

An Extensive Wine Collection and Inventive Bar Program

Orla boasts one of the most extensive wine collections in Las Vegas, curated by Mina Group’s Director of Wine Jeremy Shanker. With over 1,600 labels to choose from, guests can explore wines from wineries throughout the Mediterranean region, including Lebanon, Santorini, Croatia, Sicily, and Corsica. Some vintages even date back to the 1940s.

The bar program at Orla is equally impressive, offering a variety of tantalizing flavor profiles, including citrus, herbs, and spices. Notable cocktails include the Sorrento, made with Grey Goose Vodka, Cointreau, hibiscus, melon, Sevilla orange, lemon, and honey, as well as the Rio Spritz, featuring Aperol, elderflower, passion fruit, Prosecco, and Fever Tree soda.

A Resort Oasis with Three Distinct Hotel Experiences

Nestled on 120 acres, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino offers a modern tropical design across its 3,211 luxurious rooms and suites. Guests can enjoy a unique tropical setting around the pool with sand, as well as visit attractions such as the Shark Reef Aquarium and indulge in award-winning dining experiences like Orla.

Part of MGM Resorts International, the resort offers three distinct hotel experiences. In addition to Mandalay Bay, guests can choose to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel with 424 rooms and suites, or the luxurious all-suite Delano Las Vegas.
