A Departure from Minimalism: Ian Williams to Release New Album “Slow-Motion Apocalypse”

London-based musician and composer Ian Williams is gearing up to launch his latest album titled “Slow-Motion Apocalypse” on 3rd November 2023. This 8-track album marks a significant shift from the minimalistic style of his 2021 release, “All Becomes Desert,” as it delves into the urgency of a civilization teetering on the edge of self-destruction.

A Protest Against Musical Tranquillity

“Slow-Motion Apocalypse” stands out as a protest against the prevailing trend of using music as a tranquilizer for the masses. It is not meant for meditation or expressing warm feelings. The album features Williams’ current single, “The Light At The End Of The World,” which combines bubbling sequencers, tribal beats, and soaring synths. Accompanying the single is an interdimensional music video filmed amidst the Orion Nebula and Margate.

A Music Career Shaped by Innovation

Ian Williams embarked on his music career in the mid-1980s in Edinburgh, where he co-founded Beautiful Pea Green Boat. His unique sound anticipated the dream pop genre by two decades. Williams has also collaborated with Lebanese choreographer Joumana Mourad and her contemporary dance company, Ijad, seamlessly blending various musical styles. In recent times, he has worked alongside singer Claudia Barton as Gamine, releasing albums of dark, piano-led songs.

Prior Works by Ian Williams
