Veterans Day Programs: Honoring Those Who Served

Blue Earth

The 104th Annual Veterans Day program in Blue Earth is set to take place at the Blue Earth Area High School on November 10. The program, jointly sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Blue Earth American Legion Post 89 and its Auxiliary, will commence at 10:30 a.m.

The ceremony will begin with a prelude by the BEA High School band, followed by an invocation and the presentation of colors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

The keynote speaker for the event is Randy Olson, a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. The program will also feature musical performances by the BEA concert choir and the high school band.

The event will conclude with a rifle salute, the playing of ‘Taps,’ and the benediction.

Wells

The Wells Veterans Day program will be held at the United South Central High School gymnasium on November 10, starting at 9 a.m. Students from USC will participate by presenting patriotic essays and singing patriotic songs.

Bryan Ward, a USC graduate, will be the guest speaker. Following the ceremony, veterans are invited to enjoy coffee and bars.

Winnebago

The Genesis Classical Academy and Winnebago American Legion Post 82 will jointly present a Veterans Day program on November 10 at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago.

The program will commence with the presentation of colors by the Winnebago American Legion Post 82. Students from grades 7-11 at GCA will perform the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The highlight of the event will be a speech by Major Travis L. Cyphers, a decorated military veteran. Major Cyphers has an illustrious career, including serving as a platoon leader and instructor at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The program will conclude with a benediction, the posting of the Honor Guard, a rifle salute, and the somber melody of ‘Taps’.
