Thousands of people are anticipated to visit the Royal City this weekend as the University of Guelph holds its homecoming celebrations. The festivities commence with a football game between the Guelph Gryphons and the York Lions at Alumni Stadium at 1 p.m. Additionally, there will be a celebration and reunion commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Gryphons cheerleading squad. The festivities kick off with a breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by their participation in the alumni party at the football game in the south end zone from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Various other celebrations will also take place across the campus.

In light of the homecoming event, the Guelph Police Service will deploy additional officers to maintain public safety. Spokesperson Scott Tracey assures that the heightened police presence aims to ensure that all individuals celebrating can do so responsibly. He emphasizes the importance of acting responsibly and respecting the community.
