The Toronto Blue Jays Place Erik Swanson on Injured List

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that right-hander Erik Swanson has been placed on the 15-day injured list. Swanson, a 29-year-old relief pitcher, is currently suffering from thoracic spine inflammation.

Swanson’s last appearance was on Saturday, where he pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed one hit in the Blue Jays’ 8-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. This win ended a three-game losing streak for Toronto, placing them 1.5 games behind the Houston Astros for the third and final American League wild-card spot.

In response to Swanson’s absence, the Blue Jays have recalled right-hander Jay Jackson from Triple-A Buffalo. Jackson will be active for Sunday’s series finale against the Guardians.
