Maui County Council to Discuss State’s Housing Efforts

The Maui County Council’s Housing and Land Use Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 9 a.m. to receive an update on the state’s housing efforts on Maui.

Nani Medeiros, the state’s chief housing officer, will be delivering a presentation on Governor Josh Green’s emergency proclamation on housing, along with discussing the state’s efforts to address the housing shortage on Maui. Council Member Tasha Kama, who chairs the committee, emphasized the urgency of finding solutions to the housing crisis, which has been further exacerbated by the recent wildfire disaster.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for testimony, which can be given in person at the Council Chambers or online via the website bluejeans.com/834693029.
