Update: Woman Rescued After Falling at Worlds End State Park

A dramatic rescue operation took place on Sunday morning at Worlds End State Park in Forks Township, Sullivan County. Emergency responders were called to the scene after a young woman fell approximately 50 feet from a waterfall known as Cottonwood Falls near Cabin Bridge Road.

The woman, believed to be in her early 20s, survived the fall and was quickly attended to by a team of emergency responders. Geisinger Medical Center in Danville dispatched their Life Flight helicopter to transport her to a trauma center once firefighters were able to safely lift her out of the gorge.

Access to the area where she fell was challenging, making the rescue operation even more complex. Specially-trained rescuers with specialized equipment worked diligently to bring her out of the gorge, and their efforts paid off as she was successfully lifted out at 9:40 a.m.

Reports indicate that the hiker suffered head injuries during the fall. Firefighters from Forksville, Hillsgrove, Eagles Mere, Laporte, and Mildred were among the first responders dispatched to the state park at 6:40 a.m.

This is a developing story, and further details will be provided as they become available.
