Unbelievable: Patricia J. Morell – World’s Most Versatile Woman – Shocks the World with Her Astonishing 89-Year Journey Filled with Record-Breaking Achievements, Jaw-Dropping Sports Feats, and Mind-Blowing Professional Accomplishments!

Patricia Jo Emerine Morell, a resident of Hubbard, peacefully passed away in her home on the evening of September 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 14, 1934, in Warren, Ohio, to Joseph and Fannie Ashland Emerine.

Patricia attended Champion High School and graduated with honors as the valedictorian of her class in 1952. She furthered her education at Youngstown State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. It was during her time at YSU that she met Carl T. Morell, the love of her life. They exchanged vows on May 31, 1958, in Hubbard and together raised four sons: Carl (Cyndi) Morell of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ed Morell of Canfield, Tom (Deanne) Morell of Lexington, Ohio, and Joseph Morell of Canfield. Patricia is also survived by her three grandchildren, CJ Morell of Charlotte, Thomas Justin Morell of Lexington, and Alexis (Eric) Danhoff of Willard, as well as her great-grandchildren, Hudson and Mason Danhoff.

After dedicating her time to raising her children, Patricia joined the workforce and eventually retired from Youngstown State University. During her employment, she worked in the bursar’s office. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in the Altar and Rosary Society, Difference Makers, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Patricia derived great joy from volunteering and could often be found helping out at the St. Pat’s Festival, baking her famous poppy seed cakes for the cake booth. Her family was her priority, and she cherished spending quality time with them, particularly her grandchildren. Every year, Patricia eagerly planned family vacations to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, where she thoroughly spoiled her grandchildren and indulged in reading and playing poker with her sons. Traveling was also a passion of hers, and after retiring, she embarked on numerous trips, checking off various states and countries from her bucket list. In her leisure time at home, Patricia took pleasure in tending to her flower gardens, especially her beloved hydrangeas. She found delight in observing the daily visits of birds and hummingbirds to her many bird feeders. Patricia treasured the companionship of her husband, Carl, and their close-knit circle of friends. They regularly gathered to go dancing, enjoy dinners and movies, or attend musical shows downtown. Always on the go, Patricia generously offered her time to assist friends and neighbors, often providing transportation for medical or personal appointments.

In addition to her sons and grandchildren, Patricia is survived by her brother, Rick (Charlene) Emerine of Boynton Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Jan Emerine of Cortland; companion, Joseph Turjanica of Austintown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Carl, her parents, Joseph and Fannie Emerine, and her brothers, David Emerine and Arden Emerine.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Patricia’s caregivers and neighbors for their dedicated care and support during her time of need. Their selflessness and compassion were truly inspiring, and the family deeply appreciates all that they did. Patricia’s caregivers tirelessly ensured her comfort, happiness, and the opportunity for enjoyable outings.

Family and friends are invited to honor Patricia’s memory by attending visitation hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home. Additionally, visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church Parish Center, preceding the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. officiated by Rev. Michael Swierz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Patricia will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
