Funeral Services for Lois A. Johnson

FAIRMONT — Funeral Services for Lois A. Johnson, 86, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont. Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or a charity of your choice. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lois Adeane (Steuber) Johnson was born December 29, 1936, to Garry and Marian (Traetow) Steuber in Fairmont, Minn. Surrounded by loving family, God called her to Himself Sunday, November 12, 2023 at her home in Fairmont. “For by Grace you have been saved through faith. Ephesians 2:8” She was made a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism January 5, 1937, at her maternal grandparents home with Pastor E.E. Zemke officiating. She reaffirmed her faith, at her Confirmation, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont April 23, 1950, with Pastor O. F. Krause officiating.

Lois attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Fairmont High School where she graduated in 1954. After graduating, Lois attended the University of Minnesota College of Medical Technology and completed her internship at the Fairmont Community Hospital where she continued to work following her internship.

Life with David Johnson

On September 22, 1956, Lois married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, David Johnson, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They lived in Minneapolis from 1956 to 1959 while David was completing his DVM degree. While living in Minneapolis, Lois continued working in the medical field at a medical clinic. After David’s graduation in 1959, Lois and David began practicing Veterinary medicine in Welcome, Minn. They then purchased Dr. Fitch’s practice in 1964 and moved to Fairmont in 1968. God blessed their marriage with two children, Todd David and Sarah Lois.

Active Member of the Community

Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member of LWML and Anna Circle, Sunday School Teacher, Summer Bible School Teacher and served on Altar Guild, committees, and several boards where she held various offices. She was also very involved as a Red Cross Volunteer, Fairmont Community Hospital Volunteer, Fairmont Community Groups, Martin County Republican Committee, Cub Scout Leader, Brownie Leader, and member of Interlaken Golf Club and Martin County Historical Society.

Remembering Lois A. Johnson

Those left to cherish her memory include her family, husband, David Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Mark Pletts; grandchildren, Steele and Gentry Pletts and Nicholas and Christopher Johnson; many cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Todd David Johnson; parents, Garry and Marian Steuber; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stanley and Margaret Johnson; grandparents, Otto and Clara Steuber and Bill and Lydia Traetow.
