Unbelievable! Charleston Fire’s Jaw-Dropping Free Education Event Guarantees Life-Saving Tips – Don’t Miss Out!

The Charleston Fire Department is offering two free events, “Stop the Bleed” and “Hands-Only CPR,” to teach people life-saving skills. These skills are not only important for emergency responders but for bystanders as well. The sessions begin with an explanation of the importance of these skills, followed by a demonstration. Participants will then get the chance to practice these skills themselves.

“Stop the Bleed” focuses on teaching participants how to control bleeding, while “Hands-Only CPR” teaches CPR techniques to be used during a cardiac arrest until professional help arrives. Chief Fire Marshal Michael Julazadeh emphasizes that these skills enable people to react quickly in emergency situations. Acting as an immediate responder can make a significant difference in saving lives, whether it’s witnessing an accident or having a loved one who is injured. The goal is to take immediate action, control the situation, and activate emergency responders by calling 911.

In addition to learning about bleeding control and CPR, participants will also be taught how to use a tourniquet and understand the function of naloxone or Narcan nasal spray. It’s essential to note that the “Hands-Only CPR” session does not provide a certificate for job requirements.

The event will take place at Citadel Mall in the Reserve Community Room, starting on Thursday. “Stop the Bleed” will run from 11 a.m. to Noon, followed by “Hands-Only CPR” from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Previous attendees have expressed positive feedback, enjoying both the content and the opportunity to interact with first responders. This hands-on experience helps participants better understand the situations they may face and prepares them to take action.

Registration for the event is encouraged, as spots are limited. Interested individuals can sign up by clicking the provided link. Copyright 2023 WCSC. All rights reserved.
