Injury and Damage

A Ukrainian drone crashed into the roof of a railway station in the western Russian city of Kursk early Sunday morning, injuring five people and causing damage to the building, according to the regional governor.

Russia’s Kursk region borders Ukraine and has seen previous apparent Ukrainian attacks.

Impact on the Railway Station

According to an update on Telegram by governor Roman Starovoyt, one of the station’s platforms has been temporarily closed, but passengers can still board and depart trains from the other two platforms.

The crash caused damage to the roof and facade of the station, as well as a waiting room and pedestrian tunnel.

Recovery and Medical Assistance

Five people sustained minor injuries, out of which two declined medical aid. The remaining three were sent for examination to the Kursk regional hospital and have already been released home.

Previous Attacks and Current Conflict

Earlier this month, shells fired by Ukraine hit a residential building in the village of Volfino in the northern Kursk region, resulting in injuries to three people.

Ukrainian forces have been increasingly carrying out shelling and drone attacks as part of their counteroffensive to reclaim territory seized by Russia.

President Zelensky’s Statement

While Kyiv rarely takes direct credit for the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the war is gradually returning to Russian soil.

Ongoing Conflict

Russia continues to regularly bombard Ukraine, as evidenced by a recent missile strike in Chernihiv that resulted in seven deaths and over 100 injuries.
