Tourism Industry Expected to Outpace Global Economy Growth by 2023
AKIPRESS.COM – The global tourism industry is set to witness a remarkable recovery and growth by the year 2023, as highlighted in a report released by the CIS Executive Committee.
Based on data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the year 2022 recorded over 900 million international tourist trips worldwide, marking a two-fold increase compared to the figures from 2021.
Nevertheless, despite this significant surge, the number of international arrivals in 2022 remains 37% lower than pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019, which accounted for approximately 1.5 billion arrivals.
Offering a glimpse into the future, the World Travel and Tourism Council projects that the global tourism industry will employ a staggering 430 million individuals by the end of 2023, in contrast to the 334 million people employed in the sector in 2019.
“This accounts for approximately one-ninth of all jobs in the world. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the tourism industry will grow at a more rapid pace compared to the overall global economy,” stated the report.
