Shocking Downtown Las Vegas Crash: Notorious Reckless Driver with Active DUI Warrant at Fault, Police Reveal

Francisco Jimenez (Metropolitan Police Department)

In the bustling downtown area of Las Vegas last week, a man by the name of Francisco Jimenez found himself at the center of a chaotic and devastating four-vehicle crash. This incident occurred as Mr. Jimenez, who currently has an active DUI warrant, was accused by the police of driving recklessly.

The crash took place on September 23 at the intersection of Fremont and Bruce streets, around 9:20 p.m. Fortunately, the whole incident was captured on surveillance video, providing invaluable evidence for the subsequent investigations. According to a detailed report from the Metropolitan Police Department, three vehicles had come to a complete stop at the intersection when a tan Chevrolet Silverado appeared out of nowhere, traveling at an astonishing speed of 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. Disregarding the red traffic light, the speeding vehicle collided with the other three innocent cars, causing a cascade of destruction. Eyewitnesses said that the Chevrolet overturned three times before finally coming to a stop.

With quick response, law enforcement officers were able to pull Mr. Jimenez out of the overturned Chevrolet. However, this incident was not his first encounter with the police. In fact, public records reveal that Mr. Jimenez had been arrested before in November, under similar circumstances. At that time, he was caught driving the very same Chevrolet, but this time with it going at a dangerous speed of 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. The police, after conducting necessary tests, concluded that Mr. Jimenez was under the influence when operating the vehicle. Consequently, the district attorney’s office pressed charges for driving under the influence in March. However, Mr. Jimenez failed to appear in court as required, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.

After his most recent arrest, Mr. Jimenez eventually pleaded no contest to the charges of driving under the influence. As a result, he was sentenced to attend DUI school, perform community service, and participate in a victim impact panel, as listed in the court records. Currently, Mr. Jimenez remains in custody on $10,000 bail while he awaits his court hearing, which is scheduled for October 11.
