Gameloft Announces Changes to Disney Dreamlight Valley: Free-to-Play Game Turns Paid on Full Release

In a surprising move, Gameloft has revealed that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be transitioning from its free-to-play model to a paid release when the full 1.0 version launches on December 5th. This announcement, made through a blog post on the game’s website, has left players in anticipation and curiosity.

Ensuring an Enhanced Game Experience

The decision to switch to a paid model stems from Gameloft’s commitment to providing players with a premium gaming experience. Since its initial launch in early access on September 6th last year, Disney Dreamlight Valley has strived to deliver new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and other surprises to its devoted player base.

Gameloft expressed their dedication to maintaining free content updates and ensuring optional in-game purchases requiring Moonstones remain fair and of high quality. Players will still have the opportunity to collect free Moonstones through Dream Snaps and Chests, or choose to purchase them.

Farewell to the Founder’s Pack

As part of this transition, the $29.99 USD Founder’s pack, which provided early access and bonus cosmetic items, will be discontinued on December 4th. However, players who were part of the Founder’s pack tier will retain their game access, progress, and Moonstones.

An Altered Pricing Model

Replacing the Founder’s pack will be the base game, priced at $39.99 USD. While slightly more expensive, this version will include 8,000 Moonstones. It is important to note that this new edition does not provide exclusive content or the game’s first paid story expansion, A Rift in Time. Further details about this expansion will be unveiled during the game’s first-ever showcase, scheduled for November 1st at 1:00 p.m. ET and accessible through Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Live.

The Gold Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley, priced at $69.99 USD, will include A Rift in Time along with 15,000 Moonstones. Players opting for the base game can purchase the expansion separately for $29.99. Additionally, Gameloft has revealed plans to release a physical version of the game, exclusively for consoles, priced at $49.99 USD. This physical release will feature the base game, 14,500 Moonstones, and a range of cosmetic items.

Platforms and Early Access

Currently, Disney Dreamlight Valley is available for early access on various platforms, including PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
