Sounds of Music: Delta County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner Celebrates Community Impact

HARRIS — Music was in the air at the Island Resort and Casino Thursday for the Delta County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, a celebration of individuals and businesses that have made an impact on the community. This year, the theme of the event was “Sounds of Music.”

Inspiration Award

The evening began with the Chamber board members presenting the Inspiration Award to Deb Doyle, who is leaving the board after more than two decades of service.

Delta Force Graduation

The Delta Force class of 2023 was then recognized with a graduation ceremony. Julie Lambert of Leigh’s Garden Winery, a Delta Force participant, gave a speech about the program’s impact on the community.

Educational Excellence Award

Ted Prati, a special education teacher at Bark River Harris School, received the Educational Excellence award. Prati expressed gratitude for the support he receives from the school district and other organizations.

Community Ambassador Award

Julie and Tony Lambert of Leigh’s Garden Winery were honored with the Community Ambassador Award for their efforts in making the area more appealing to travelers.

Outstanding Delta Force Alum Award

Kevin Chown, a graduate of the Delta Force program, received the Outstanding Delta Force Alum Award for his contributions to the community, including bringing the Northern Lights Music Fest and Keith Urban to Escanaba.

Business Partner of the Year Award

Heidi and Adam Hausler of Mr. Bike and Ski were named Business Partners of the Year for their dedication to working together for the betterment of the community.

Century Award

The Century Award, recognizing a local business or organization that has existed for at least 100 years, was presented to the First United Methodist Church of Escanaba. The church welcomed tourists visiting Escanaba this summer, contributing to the city’s positive impression.

Record Breaker Award

Visit Escanaba received the Record Breaker Award for their successful introduction of the Northern Lights Music Fest.

Change Maker Award

The City of Escanaba Recreation Department was honored with the Change Maker Award for their efforts in providing diverse activities and making them accessible to the community.

Businesses of the Year

Highline Internet and Delta Force P.I. were both recognized as Businesses of the Year. Delta Force P.I., represented by co-owners Jim McNeil and Molly Barron, showcased their unique business model, while Highline, represented by President and General Manager Bruce Moore, announced plans for significant investments in the Upper Peninsula.
