Winnipeg Police Charge Two Men in Connection with Break and Enters and Robberies

Winnipeg police have announced that they have charged two men in connection with a series of break and enters and robberies that have occurred over the past two months.

On Friday evening, officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a commercial property on Main Street. Investigation revealed that two suspects had attempted to pry open an overhead door, resulting in over $5,000 in damages. The suspects were apprehended without incident.

Further investigation linked the two suspects to another break and enter earlier that day on Main Street. In this incident, the suspects gained entry to a commercial business by prying open a door, causing approximately $1,000 in damages. They fled after being confronted by the business owner.

During the arrests, police discovered a .410 caliber round of ammunition and a Manitoba Metis Federation card, which was found to be stolen from a 58-year-old woman who was robbed of her purse on Corydon Avenue on May 24.

Police have also connected one of the suspects to two thefts at commercial businesses on Henderson Highway on July 29. In the first incident, the suspect stole a Samsung tablet and battery pack, while in the second incident, the suspect stole three sets of car keys and later returned to steal three vehicles. Additionally, the suspect stole a dealership license plate from a parked vehicle on August 25.

Fortunately, the stolen vehicles have since been recovered.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with several offenses, including mischief over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of a firearm. Another 27-year-old man has been charged with mischief over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of breaking and entering, and three counts of theft of a motor vehicle. Both individuals remain in custody.

This incident serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
