In designing the interior of the Cooper Electric Hardtop, Mini sought to capture the minimalist aesthetic of the classic Mini while incorporating the latest technologies. The result is a cabin that seamlessly blends heritage with innovation, offering a depth of personalization and cutting-edge tech features.
A High-Resolution OLED Display
At the heart of the new Mini’s interior is the Interaction Unit, a centerpiece located in the middle of the dashboard. This unit features a high-resolution OLED display running Mini Operating System 9.
The display has been strategically positioned closer to the driver for easy access, although voice controls are also available. With a diameter of approximately 9.5 inches, the larger display boasts an attractive glass edge. Its upper half presents crucial vehicle-related information, such as speed and battery status, while the lower section hosts menu items for navigation, climate control, phone functions, and media.
Designed to mimic the user experience of a modern smartphone, the display offers a convenient and intuitive interface for interacting with various features of the car.
A Visual and Tactile Delight
However, the OLED display in the Cooper Electric Hardtop serves as more than just a control interface. It also enhances the overall ambience of the cabin with its visual and tactile capabilities.
Customers can opt for an additional projector located at the back of the display, which immerses the dashboard in a wide array of colors and patterns. This feature enables a new level of personalization, such as the ability to set a customer-selected image as the display’s background through the Personal Mode. Moreover, by using a digital color picker, the ambient lighting system can reflect the colors of the chosen image throughout the cabin.
Additionally, engaging the Go-Kart Mode, which affects the driving experience, triggers a captivating anthracite and red lighting signature within the interior.
