Tupper Lake Football Team Ends Season with a Loss to Waterville

The Tupper Lake football team concluded their season with a 12-7 defeat against the Waterville Eagles on Friday. Despite the loss, the Lumberjacks finished the season with an impressive 5-2 record, their best since 2011.

A Hard-Fought Game

The Lumberjacks played with perfect effort throughout the game, and head coach Dennis Klossner expressed his pride in the team’s performance. The players were emotional as the final seconds ticked away, signifying the end of their season.

Impressive Plays

During the game, running back Luke Robillard led the team with 152 rushing yards and scored the team’s only touchdown. His performance also allowed him to surpass the 1,000-yard mark for the season, making him the eighth player in Tupper Lake football history to achieve this feat.

Defensive Standouts

The defensive efforts of Tyler LaPlante, Luke Robillard, and Brayden Shannon were notable, with LaPlante leading the team in tackles and Robillard recording two sacks. The defensive secondary, consisting of LaPlante, Shannon, Liam McClain, and Cohen Gerstenberger, defended six passes and Gerstenberger even had an interception.

Looking Ahead

Despite the loss, the Tupper Lake team has a promising future, with 19 players set to return next year. They will bid farewell to graduating seniors Tyler LaPlante, Logan Flagg, Leonardo Sabialta, and Tyler Wood.

Although their season has come to an end, the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks demonstrated their determination and impressive performance, leaving a positive mark on the 2023 football season.
