The Winnipeg Jets have announced the signing of restricted free-agent defenseman Logan Stanley to a one-year deal worth US$1 million for the upcoming season.

With this signing, the Jets now only have one unsigned player for the 2023-24 season, which is restricted free-agent defenseman Declan Chisholm.

In an interview with Winnipeg radio station CJOB, Stanley revealed that he and his agent chose not to exercise his arbitration rights after receiving a qualifying offer from Winnipeg on June 30. Stanley believed it didn’t make sense to go through arbitration due to his limited playing time and injuries last season.

Stanley has faced challenges staying healthy and maintaining a consistent role in the Jets’ defensive rotation. In the pandemic-shortened 2021 season, he played in 37 of the 56 games. The following season, he only dressed for 58 of 82 games due to back-to-back ankle injuries.

Despite these setbacks, Stanley is eager to prove himself and earn a spot on the Jets’ roster. He expressed his desire to play in Winnipeg for his entire career and rebuild trust with the coaching staff.

“Last year was unfortunate with the back-to-back ankle injuries,” Stanley said. “I’ve worked hard this summer to get into shape and get my body back to feeling good, so I’m definitely looking forward to training camp, for sure.”
