Worthington Dominates New Ulm in Big South Conference Gymnastics Meet

Worthington Trojans Outperform New Ulm Eagles

NEW ULM β€” The Worthington Trojans showcased their technique and precision in an impressive victory over the New Ulm Eagles at the Turner Gymnastics Academy. The Trojans dominated the Big South Conference gymnastics meet with a final score of 135.975-127.9.

Olivia Eckstein Shines for New Ulm

In an exceptional performance, senior Olivia Eckstein of the Eagles secured first place on the beam with a score of 8.85. Eckstein also showcased her skills in other events, finishing sixth in the floor routine (8.4), sixth on bars (7.3), and fifth all-around with a total score of 32.875.

Hali Bullerman Leads Worthington to Victory

Worthington’s Hali Bullerman dominated the meet, earning first place all-around with a score of 35.95. Bullerman excelled in multiple events, taking first place in the vault (9.425), bars (8.9), and floor routine (9.175).

Despite Eckstein’s strong performance, Bullerman narrowly missed first place on the beam, finishing with a score of 8.45 for second place.

Other Standout Performances

Olivia Barber of Worthington secured second place all-around with a total score of 33.975, while Addison Gerber took third place all-around with a score of 33.45.

New Ulm’s Josie Sellner also had a notable performance, finishing fourth all-around with a score of 32.975. Sellner achieved third place on bars (7.925), fourth place in the floor routine (8.65), and fifth place on beam (8.05).

A Challenging Night for New Ulm

New Ulm head coach Kortney Peterson acknowledged the Trojans’ superior skills and precision in the meet. She also mentioned the challenges faced by the Eagles, including illnesses among the team members and missing several JV athletes. Despite the difficulties, Peterson commended the team’s efforts in filling the lineup.

Avarey Sellner represented New Ulm well in the vault, earning fifth place with a score of 8.5. She also performed admirably on the beam, finishing in sixth place with a score of 8.05.

Looking Ahead

The Eagles will return to action on January 4th when they travel to compete against Blue Earth Area. Coach Peterson expressed a desire for the team to focus on their routines during the Christmas break to reach their peak performance towards the end of the season.
