When examining a bottle of Forever Young or Rumor rosé wine, both originating from the Côtes du Provence region in France, it is clear that these wines offer a sensuously light pink experience even before tasting them. The delicate pink color reminds one of actual roses, such as Pink Mondial and Majolica roses. In addition, these rosé wines have a lower alcohol content compared to other wines from the same region. As a result, these Côtes du Provence Rosés have become a popular wine trend, especially during the summer season. Drinking these wines evokes thoughts of their unique history and specific terroir.
Having recently visited Provence, we experienced the unique weather conditions that contribute to the region’s wines. The gentle sun, rain, and sea breeze, along with the famous Mistral wind, create a distinct environment that has been celebrated by French poets and novelists.
However, the history of Provence, much like its wind, is significant. In the 6th century BC, Phoenicians brought grape vines from Greece to Massalia (modern-day Marseille) in southern France. The wines produced from these vines were field blends of white and red grapes, resulting in naturally light-colored wines. These pleasant pink wines quickly gained popularity around the Mediterranean. Today, Provence still dedicates 91% of its vines to producing this wine, as it thrives in the local climate. In fact, Provence produces over 80% of all rosé wines in the region.
Provençal rosé has been a favorite in America for years and has recently been re-popularized by brands like Forever Young and Rumor. These pale pink wines are made from blends of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and sometimes Mourvèdre grapes. The finish often features hints of red and white currant and Satsuma plum, with a touch of pepper. They encapsulate the lively warmth of summer, regardless of the actual season. However, each rosé has its unique history and qualities that set it apart.
Forever Young comes from the esteemed Chateau Roubine vineyard, known for its rich heritage. Established in 1307, Château Roubine has been intertwined with the history of Provence for centuries. Located in the Côtes de Provence appellation, the vineyard benefits from an east-west orientation, clay-limestone soil, and natural drainage. It cultivates more than 13 grape varieties, including the rare Tibouren, which accounts for only 2% of wine production in Provence.
Forever Young Wines
With a storied past, Château Roubine was originally owned by the Order of the Templars before being transferred to the order of Saint John of Jerusalem in 1307. Throughout the 15th century, it was possessed by various renowned Provençal families. In 1955, Château Roubine was recognized as a “Cru Classé” estate of the Côtes de Provence. When Valérie Rousselle became the new owner in 1994, she injected youthful energy into the estate, expanding it, converting it to biodynamic viticulture, and investing in state-of-the-art equipment. Under her leadership, Château Roubine began crafting award-winning Rosé wines.
Bethenny Frankel, a successful businessperson, author, and philanthropist, was drawn to the exceptional wine produced by Château Roubine. Together with Valerie, they elevated Forever Young to new heights.

Forever Young Wines
On the other hand, RUMOR Rosé is a blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 3% Syrah, 1% Mourvèdre, and 1% Tibouren. All the grapes used are 100% organic, resulting in a dry flavor profile without any bitterness. RUMOR possesses a classic pale pink hue, accompanied by delicate citrus and fruit aromas. This easy-drinking rosé has an alcohol by volume (abv) of 13% and a clean-cut mouthfeel from the first sip to the finish.
RUMOR is meant to be a combination of sophistication and lightness, making it a versatile rosé suitable for any occasion or weather. The current vintage reflects the past Provence season, characterized by particularly hot and dry weather. However, thanks to welcome showers at the beginning of September, the grapes were able to reach their full maturity. RUMOR is best served chilled and pairs well with a variety of foods in Provençal cooking, as well as tapas, vegetables, or grilled seafood.
Barry Bayat, the founder of RUMOR, searched the Côtes de Provence region for the perfect winemaker and cuvée. After numerous winery visits, vineyard inspections, and taste tests, he found a match in the village of Flassans-sur-Issole, located in the Var hills of southern France.
Rumor Wine
The grapes grown in Flassans-sur-Issole achieve the ideal acidity ratio for the palate. RUMOR’s winemakers select and blend particularly Provençal varietals, including Grenache, Vermentino, Cinsault, Shiraz, and Tibourin. They harvest the grapes at the optimal temperature, coordinate the fermentation process, and minimize human interference.
Rumor produces its rosé using vegan, organic, and chemical-free grapes with no residual sugar. The vineyard is meticulously cared for in accordance with organic principles, preserving centuries-old winemaking customs and the delicate flavor of each grape variety. Fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides are strictly prohibited during the manufacturing process. The result is a sophisticated, well-balanced, and palatable rosé that has gained popularity among wine enthusiasts across Europe and America. RUMOR is now available in eleven countries, representing a taste of success that transports drinkers to picturesque vineyards in Provence and the Mediterranean breeze with every sip.
