Injury Updates: Chargers’ Ekeler and Colts’ Richardson Ruled Out, Ravens Face Depleted Roster

It seems like this season, more than any in recent memory, has an unusually high number of injuries, particularly to well-known players. As we enter Week 3, we’ve already witnessed the premature end of the season for New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, and Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins. Other star players, such as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, are currently dealing with injuries that may affect their availability for Week 3 and beyond. Additionally, rookie quarterbacks Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young will not be taking the field on Sunday. Here is a comprehensive look at each team’s final injury report for Week 3:

Falcons: RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh), CB Jeff Okudah (foot) – QUESTIONABLE

Lions: T Taylor Decker (ankle), S Kerby Joseph (hip), DB Emmanuel Mosley (knee/hamstring), G Halapoulivaati Vaitai (knee) – OUT; RB David Montgomery (knee) – DOUBTFUL; WR Josh Reynolds (groin), WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (toe) – QUESTIONABLE

The Falcons are likely to have Okudah back this week as he was listed as questionable but fully participated in Friday’s practice. He is ready to make his season debut on Sunday. Patterson was a limited participant on Friday, so his availability will be determined closer to game time. Troy Andersen has been cleared from concussion protocol and thus, has no injury designation.

Although the Lions have several players out, St. Brown was a full participant in Friday’s practice and should be good to go for Sunday. Reynolds also participated fully. With Montgomery out, Jahmyr Gibbs and Craig Reynolds are expected to carry the load at running back. The Lions will also be missing two starting linemen.

Chargers: RB Austin Ekeler (ankle), LB Eric Kendricks (hamstring) – OUT; DE Joey Bosa (hamstring), LB Daiyan Henley (hamstring), LB Chris Rumph II (hamstring), DL Christopher Hinton (back) – QUESTIONABLE

Vikings: DE Marcus Davenport (ankle) – OUT; C Garrett Bradbury (back) – QUESTIONABLE

Ekeler will not be playing this week as he missed Friday’s practice and has been ruled out for Sunday. Joshua Kelley will start at running back once again. Bosa was limited in Friday’s practice, so his availability will be a game-time decision. Henley and Rumph were full participants. Davenport will sit out Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 2. Bradbury missed the Week 2 loss to the Eagles but has a chance to play this week. Tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle), linebacker Jordan Hicks (shin), and safety Josh Metellus (shoulder) did not receive injury designations.

Saints: RB Jamaal Williams (hamstring) – OUT; TE Foster Moreau (ankle) – DOUBTFUL; S Ugo Amadi (knee), CB Paulson Adebo (hamstring) – QUESTIONABLE

Packers: S Zayne Anderson (hamstring), G Elgton Jenkins (knee) – OUT; T David Bakhtiari (knee), CB Jaire Alexander (back), RB Aaron Jones (hamstring), OLB Lukas Van Ness (elbow), WR Christian Watson (hamstring) – QUESTIONABLE

Jamaal Williams will be absent from the Saints’ lineup, leaving a heavier workload for Kendre Miller at running back. Adebo was added to the injury report on Friday and did not practice, making his status uncertain for Sunday.

The Packers are typically cautious with injuries, which leaves the statuses of Jones and Watson uncertain for this week. Both players were limited in Friday’s practice and are expected to be game-time decisions. If they are unable to play, A.J. Dillon will be the starting running back and rookie Jayden Reed will see increased snaps at wide receiver.

Texans: LB Denzel Perryman (hand/wrist), S Jalen Pitre (chest), CB Tavierre Thomas (hand), CB Derek Stingley Jr. (hamstring) – OUT; T Laremy Tunsil (knee) – QUESTIONABLE

Jaguars: WR Zay Jones (knee), S Antonio Johnson (hamstring) – OUT; OLB Josh Allen (shoulder), S Andrew Wingard (shoulder), DL Folorunso Fatukasi (shoulder) – QUESTIONABLE

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans did not provide further information on Tunsil’s status, so it is likely that he will be a game-time decision. Stingley is expected to be placed on injured reserve, which will leave Houston short-handed in the secondary this week. All Jaguars players listed as questionable were limited in Friday’s practice. With Jones out, Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk may receive more targets. The same can be expected for Evan Engram.

Broncos: NT Mike Purcell (ankle) – QUESTIONABLE; LB Frank Clark (hip), FS Justin Simmons (hip) – OUT; OT Garett Bolles (ankle) – UNSPECIFIED

Dolphins: OT Terron Armstead (back/ankle/knee), DB Elijah Campbell (knee), DT Raekwon (wrist), TE Julian Hill (ankle), TE Tyler Kroft (back), LB Jaelan Phillips (back), WR Jaylen Waddle (concussion) – QUESTIONABLE; RB Salvon Ahmed (groin) – DOUBTFUL

Frank Clark and Justin Simmons will not be playing after missing practice throughout the week. However, Mike Purcell has been upgraded from a non-participant to a limited participant. In Miami, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle remains in concussion protocol and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. However, left tackle Terron Armstead participated in practice and is expected to gradually increase his workload.

Titans: CB Anthony Kendall (hip), DT Teair Tart (knee), DT Denico Autry (foot/rest), WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) – QUESTIONABLE; G Peter Skoronski (abdomen), WR Kearis Jackson (ankle) – OUT

Browns: OT James Hudson (ankle) – QUESTIONABLE; CB Greg Newsome II (elbow) – OUT

DeAndre Hopkins participated fully on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and did not practice on Friday. The Browns have only one player out for Sunday, James Hudson.

Bills: None

Commanders: TE Logan Thomas (concussion) – OUT

There are no injuries for the Bills, as all players were fully healthy and participated fully in practice on Friday. Thomas did not clear concussion protocol after a frightening hit from Kareem Jackson last week, so he will be out for Sunday. John Bates and Cole Turner are the listed tight ends on the depth chart. The Commanders upgraded the statuses of wide receiver Curtis Samuel (illness) and safety Kam Curl (illness) on Saturday. The players were initially listed as questionable on Friday but have now been cleared and will play in Week 3.

Colts: QB Anthony Richardson (concussion), C Ryan Kelly (concussion) – OUT; CB Dallis Flowers (ankle), CB Kenny Moore (knee), G Quenton Nelson (toe) – QUESTIONABLE

Ravens: WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle), RB Justice Hill (foot), CB Marlon Humphrey (foot), C Tyler Linderbaum (ankle), OLB Odafe Oweh (ankle), T Ronnie Stanley (knee), S Marcus Williams (pectoral) – OUT

Richardson will not participate in Sunday’s game after remaining in concussion protocol and missing Friday’s practice. Gardner Minshew is set to start at quarterback as he practiced with the first team leading up to the game. Kelly, the team’s starting center, is also in concussion protocol and is ruled out for Sunday. Wesley French is listed as the backup center. Nelson was a full participant on Friday, while Moore was limited. Moore’s status for Sunday will be worth monitoring. The Ravens have a staggering seven starters out for Sunday’s clash with the Colts. With Hill absent, expect Gus Edwards to receive more carries, with Melvin Gordon receiving a practice squad call up. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor will see an increase in targets with Beckham unavailable. Rock Ya-Sin and Daryl Worley are second-team players behind Humphrey and Williams in the secondary.

Patriots: DL Christian Barmore (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (ankle), OL Mike Onwenu (ankle), OL Sidy Sow (concussion), G Cole Strange (knee) – QUESTIONABLE

Jets: S Tony Adams (hamstring), OL Wes Schweitzer (concussion) – OUT; T Duane Brown (shoulder, hip), DL John Franklin-Myers (hip), K Greg Zuerlein (groin) – QUESTIONABLE

All Patriots players listed as questionable had limited participation in Friday’s practice, adhering to coach Bill Belichick’s usual secretive style. Terrell Edmunds, who is dealing with an illness, and wide receiver Quez Williams, who has a hamstring injury, were absent from Friday’s Eagles practice. On the Buccaneers side, linebacker SirVocea Dennis has a hamstring injury, while DT Calijah Kancey is dealing with a calf injury, both causing them to miss Friday’s practice.

Rams at Bengals: Monday night

The biggest question mark heading into Monday night is the availability of quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals have not provided a definitive answer on whether he will play or not after aggravating a calf injury sustained during preseason.
