BEVERLY – Various student groups at Fort Frye Middle and High School are preparing for the first Christmas Craft Show this weekend.

Over 40 Vendors to Participate

Over 40 vendors will be set up at the high school cafeteria and middle gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, selling wares such as crafts, gifts, and jewelry.

Food Trucks and Country Store

Three food trucks from local businesses will be set up, along with a country store run by student volunteers.

Juniors Host Event to Fundraise for Prom

Middle school science teacher Tracey Huck said the event is sponsored by the junior class and proceeds will go to hosting the junior and senior prom in spring 2024.

“This started when Mollie Zimmer (cheerleading advisor) and her students wanted to come up with ways to fundraise and benefit several student groups,”

“They’ve had this planned since last spring.”

Cheerleading Team Raises Funds

The cheerleading team will sell blue slide sandals with the word “Cadets” in cursive on them. They will be available in men, women, and youth sizes.

Raffle tickets for a Kate Spade purse will also be available at the event. One ticket is $10, and $25 for three.

“The winner will win the purse and half of the sales from the tickets,”

Alyssa Shook, junior and cheerleading team member, said.

Shook said she is excited because the team needs money for new uniforms and warm-ups, and the fair will benefit the team.

Sophomore Servers Assisting

Another group participating is the Sophomore Servers, a group of 12 students who will help arrange the cafeteria and gymnasium.

“The students are getting involved to help their other students,”

Huck said.

Sophomore Parker Burris is looking forward to browsing the items vendors will sell.

The middle school Parent Teacher Organization will also be there, selling Christmas ornaments with a Fort Frye logo on them. They will be available in either red or silver. One ornament is $12 or a set of six for $60.

“We have 200 to sell,”

Middle school principal Rachael Tillius said.

“I think we will sell them all. I hope we will order more.”

Proceeds will go to the eighth-grade class field trip to Washington, D.C., on May 22-24, 2024.
