Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa Named Starting Quarterbacks for the Pro Bowl

Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa have been selected as the starting quarterbacks for their respective conferences in the upcoming Pro Bowl. This marks their first Pro Bowl appearances, making them the first starting QBs to achieve this feat since the 1999 season when Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner, who are now Pro Football Hall of Famers, were chosen.

Purdy Leads a Strong Contingent from the 49ers

Brock Purdy, representing the San Francisco 49ers, is one of the nine players selected from his team. The 49ers, who secured the NFC’s No. 1 seed, have the most players chosen for the Pro Bowl. Purdy is joined by Nick Bosa, Javon Hargave, Kyle Juszczyk, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Charvarius Ward, Fred Warner, and Trent Williams.

Ravens and Cowboys Also Represented

Joining Purdy in the Pro Bowl are several standout players, including Lamar Jackson, Kyle Hamilton, Tyler Linderbaum, Justin Madubuike, Patrick Queen, Roquan Smith, and Justin Tucker from the Baltimore Ravens, who secured the AFC’s No. 1 seed. The Dallas Cowboys, who have a chance to clinch the NFC East title, are represented by Dak Prescott, Bryan Anger, Brandon Aubrey, DaRon Bland, CeeDee Lamb, Zack Martin, and Micah Parsons.

First-Year Selections and Veteran Pro Bowlers

Besides Purdy and Tagovailoa, there are several other first-year selections for both the AFC and NFC teams. Some notable names include Puka Nacua, Sam LaPorta, D’Andre Swift, Kyren Williams, Aidan Hutchinson, Montez Sweat, Jaylon Johnson, Devon Witherspoon, Jessie Bates, Julian Love, Rashid Shaheed, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin from the NFC. The AFC features David Njoku, Raheem Mostert, James Cook, Alec Ingold, Marvin Mims, Miles Killebrew, and Ross Matiscik.

Several veteran players also earned their Pro Bowl selections, with Trent Williams making his 11th appearance, the most among all players chosen. Aaron Donald from the Los Angeles Rams was picked for the 10th time, while Zack Martin, Travis Kelce, and Bobby Wagner have been selected nine times. Kyle Juszczyk and Tyreek Hill will be attending the Pro Bowl for the eighth time.

A Diverse Selection of Teams

Twenty-eight teams have at least one player selected for the Pro Bowl, with 21 clubs having multiple players chosen. The NFL utilizes a unique voting system that combines the input of fans, players, and coaches to determine the final rosters.

The Pro Bowl Returns to Orlando

After a three-year hiatus, the Pro Bowl is making its return to Orlando. This year’s event will feature a multiday competition between the AFC and NFC, including Pro Bowl Skills challenges and a flag football game. Peyton and Eli Manning will serve as the head coaches for the second consecutive year.
