Pre-Wedding Beauty Treatments: The Dos and Don’ts for Radiant Skin

Wedding season is right around the corner, and as you plan your trousseau and jewellery, it’s crucial not to overlook your skincare and beauty treatments. Whether you choose to visit a salon or an aesthetic dermatology clinic, there are some general guidelines to follow. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Aparna Santhanam, a Consultant Dermatologist, shared some essential dos and don’ts for pre-wedding treatments.

The Dos:

  1. Start by visiting a dermatologist to understand your skin and concerns.
  2. If opting for laser hair removal, begin at least 6 months in advance.
  3. Discuss a comprehensive program with your doctor and establish a timetable.
  4. Take control of your skincare routine with the right ingredients and brands.
  5. Test every makeup product you plan to use to avoid allergies or surprises.
  6. Use only good quality skincare products and brands.
  7. Follow your doctor’s recommendation and stop treatments when advised to do so.
  8. Even if you get facials in between, consult your doctor and proceed accordingly.
  9. Focus on a healthy diet, adequate sleep, and a healthy lifestyle.
  10. Ensure proper hydration by drinking at least 2 litres of water daily.

The Don’ts:

  1. Avoid constantly switching doctors for treatments.
  2. Do not get swayed by treatments recommended by friends or relatives.
  3. Avoid trying new products solely because they worked for someone else.
  4. Never skip your daily skincare routine.
  5. Try to avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 30 days before the wedding.
  6. Do not undergo drastic diets for weight loss, as they may harm your skin and hair quality.
  7. Do not use expired products, regardless of their cost.
  8. Consult your doctor about emergency anti-allergics, steroid creams, and last-minute zit control.
  9. Avoid arguments, stress, and unnecessary tension, as they worsen the skin.

According to Dr Mohd Asif, Co-Founder of Cara Clinic, both men and women face hair and skin-related issues like hair loss, acne, and pigmentation due to modern lifestyles. He recommended various treatments like Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant, PRP for hair thinning, chemical peels, facials, and laser therapies for skin problems. However, he emphasized the importance of proper research and selecting the right treatment for individual needs.

Dr Kashish Kalra, a Dermatologist at Max Smart Hospital, shared an inclusive guide to pre-wedding beauty regimens. Her recommendations included planning in advance, avoiding last-minute experiments, investing in quality treatments, monitoring the skin’s response, avoiding excessive exfoliation, and starting and ending treatments gently. She also emphasized the significance of customised treatments, reducing consumption of dairy and carbs, taking care of the entire body, and embracing a natural aesthetic.

Pre-wedding beauty treatments can be a fantastic way to prepare for your special day. However, it’s crucial to approach them with caution, meticulous planning, and expert advice. By following these dos and don’ts, you can confidently walk down the aisle with radiant skin, looking and feeling your best. Always consult a dermatologist to guide you towards the right treatments for healthier skin and hair on your wedding day.
