Oscar-winning Canadian Filmmaker Norman Jewison Receives Honorary Private Screening Room
The Hazelton Hotel, located in Toronto’s upscale Yorkville neighborhood, has announced that its 25-seat cinema will be renamed after Norman Jewison, the 97-year-old Toronto director.
Jewison, known for his Hollywood hits such as “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Moonstruck,” and “In the Heat of the Night,” as well as being the founder of the Canadian Film Centre, will have the hotel’s Silver Screening Room officially named the Norman Jewison Cinema during an invitation-only event on September 11, coinciding with the Toronto International Film Festival.
The event will be attended by high-profile guests, friends, and collaborators of Jewison.
This follows the Hazelton Hotel’s tradition of naming spaces after legendary Canadian artists, as the hotel previously named its private dining room after folk musician Neil Young.
